The artist that created this artwork was Roslyn Swartzman. The artwork itself is 22" by 30". The artwork is in landscape orientation and is a signed etching. Roslyn Swartzman was born in 1931 in Montreal, Quebec. She studied at the Montreal Artists School from 1947 to 1948, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from 1956 to 1957 and printmaking at the École des Beaux-Arts, Montreal from 1960 to 1964. Roslyn exhibited her art nationally with over 30 group exhibitions and 20 solo exhibitions starting in 1959. In 2006, the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts, Montreal  celebrated her career with an exhibition called the Roslyn Swartzman: Forty Year Retrospective: Prints, Sculpture and Drawings. Some of her work is in the collections of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) and the National Gallery of Canada and many more. Hung in 1991 on the wall of the Place Bonaventure, Place Alexis Nihon, a Spanish synagogue, a Portuguese synagogue and the Chevra Kadisha synagogue is a artwork called the Oiseau de feu. The Oiseau de feu is a 22 meter long sculpture with 81 peices of brightly colored painted aluminumShe was a member of the Canadian Society of Graphic Art, the Prints and Drawings Council of Canada, the Royal Academy of Arts, and the Society of Canadian Painter-Etchers and Engravers. She was also a teacher and later director of the Graphics Art Department at the Saidye Bronfman Centre of the Arts in Montreal from the mid-1960s to its closing in 2006.
