The artist that created this artwork was Rembrandt, H. van Rijn(attributed) in 1633. The frame measures 40 cm by 49 cm. The frame is made out of wood, is covered by a glass glazing and the framers wire on the back is made out of metal. The artwork itself measures 16 cm by 12 cm. The artwork is in portrait orientation and is a signed etching/dry point. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn was born in 1606 in Leiden, Netherlands and had nine siblings. At age 13, he enrolled at the University of Leiden but was apprenticed by Jacob van  Swanenburg who he stayed with for 3 years. Then for a 6 months, he was the apprenticed by Pieter Lastman. Then after a couple months as the apprentice of Jacob Pynas, he opened up a studio. He married Saskia van Uylenburgh in 1634. Rembrandt was a Dutch painter and printmaker and was considered as one of the best storytellers in the history of art. His art consisted of portraits, self-portraits, landscaping, and mythological art. Rembrandt passed away in 1669.
